Cause:
NOTE: If the user clicks 'Ignore', the error 'Could not write to the file named: 'A:\SETUP.INI'.
This error occurs when running Excel setup from diskettes and the diskettes are write-protected. Setup normally writes the name and organization information onto Setup disk 1. If the diskette is write-protected, the name cannot be written to the diskette, therefore the error occurs.
Solution:
Remove the write-protection from the diskette.
1) If the error message is still on the screen:
a) Remove Setup Disk 1 from the floppy drive.
b) Close the write-protect tab on the 3.5-inch diskette (or remove the tab on 5.25-inch diskettes).
c) Re-insert Setup Disk 1 into the floppy drive.
d) Click 'OK' or the 'Retry' to continue setup.
2) If the user has already exited Excel:
a) Remove Setup Disk 1 from the floppy drive.
b) Close the write-protect tab on the 3.5-inch diskette (or remove the tab on 5.25-inch diskettes.)
c) Re-insert Setup Disk 1 into the floppy drive.
d) Click 'OK' or the 'Retry' to continue setup.
